Two years ago Kansas City, Missouri lyricist Joe Good and Lawrence, Kansas
producer Miles Bonny decided to join forces for a unique collaboration that would
simultaneously appeal to seasoned hip hop listeners while attracting those that are less
interest in what hip hop currently has to offer. With full, musical production a
substantive, accessible lyricism, the result, SoundsGood, is a promising debut
recording that harkens to bygone eras and genres while actively pursuing innovation.
With an ingrained appreciation for all music (the two share over twenty years of
musical experience as well as musical families: Good's grandmother played piano in
the Kansas City jazz scene and Bonny's father plays trumpet in New York), the
collaborators of SoundsGood have been described as more music artists than hip hop
artists.
In only two years the collaborators have fostered a musical relationship second to
none. This enabled them to write and produce their first full-length album, open for
national performers such as Atmosphere and ?uestlove of the Roots, all while
continuing to significantly contribute to their own burgeoning Lawrence/Kansas City
hip hop scene. With such a strong start at such a young age (both members just turned
22 years old), it's very clear why the members of SoundsGood frequently emphasize
that they are only beginning their ascension to musical prominence. SO without
further description, we proudly present the SoundsGood LP (KJHK's #1 hip hop spin
for three weeks straight, in it's first three weeks at the station.) As the back cover
says, "This album is in your hands already so you might as well let it make love to
your ears."
