“It takes a trained educated ear” to be a sound engineer. Ryan Brewer

has a sound engineer ear: an ear to hear, to listen, to mix, to balance and to

record the quality of voice, music and mood. While JAZ’s ears do the

delicate work, his fingers operate technical knobs through several computers

and with a multitude of software switches.

From a humble beginning in 1994 as a sophomore at Metro Technical

High School in Kansas City, MO to a 2002 college grade from Central

Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. JAZ trained and developed,

his brain, his natural skills and his love for technical details to become the

sound engineer for the 64111 Clinic. He designed, developed and built a

professional recording studio that is optimized for audio recording.

The studio can transform lyrics from paper into a mastered CD ready

for the marketplace. JAZ’s skills provide the bridge from idea to end

product. Another unique aspect of sessions with Jaz ”the Engineer” is that

he is totally about educating his clients as they work together. As he shares

his vast knowledge reservoir, artists who work with him grow in their

understanding of their craft and how to get the results they are looking for.

An audio studio session involves three steps:

1. Vocal tracking- layin’ down those tracks can be blast !

2. Mixing – blending voice, music, beats, instruments, levels, and any

special effects – a whole nother level of listenin’ and creatin’

3. Mastering – combining and arranging tracks, normalization process,

indexing, equalizing, compressing and other technical finishing touches.
